This is, quite simply, my favourite Champagne.
Every year I visit Champagne and Michel Gonet is always one of my first stops. Despite being one of the best Blanc de Blancs I've ever tasted, it isn't available in the UK, so I always make room in the car to bring a few cases home.
The 2010 vintage is extraordinary. Rich, elegant and beautifully textured, it combines the chalky precision of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger with incredible depth, concentration and a wonderfully long finish. The first sip is like being smacked in the face with a warm baguette. If that sounds ridiculous, just wait until you taste it!
