Tenuta di Sesta Brunello di Montalcino 2021
Every cellar has a handful of bottles you never tire of opening. Tenuta di Sesta is one of mine.
I was fortunate enough to spend an afternoon with Francesca when she visited The Oxford Wine Company to host a tasting for our team, and hearing the family's story only strengthened my appreciation for a wine I'd already loved. It's also firmly earned a place on my ever-growing list of wineries to visit whenever I'm next in Tuscany.
The 2021 is everything I look for in Brunello: vibrant cherries, savoury herbs, subtle spice and beautifully refined tannins, all balanced by remarkable freshness and elegance. It's become one of the Brunellos I return to more often than almost any other - and considering the quality in the bottle, I think it's one of the best value-for -money wines you'll find in Montalcino.
