Every so often, a wine stops you in your tracks. This was one of them.
I first tasted Gaia & Rey at the 2026 London Wine Fair and still remember the moment vividly. Surrounded by hundreds of outstanding wines, this was the bottle I couldn't stop thinking about. Even now, I find myself comparing other Chardonnays against it.
The 2017 is beautifully composed, combining ripe orchard fruit and citrus with subtle notes of hazelnut, buttered pastry and gentle oak. Rich and textured without ever feeling heavy, it carries remarkable freshness and precision from the first sip to the last.
Some wines become icons because of clever marketing. Others earn that status simply by being unforgettable. Gaia & Rey belongs firmly in the latter camp.
