Before I'd ever visited Dönnhoff, I shared a bottle of this Riesling with a colleague at a work party in Oxford. We weren't especially close at the time, but somewhere over that bottle, conversation turned into friendship. It's one of the many reasons this wine will always have a special place in both my cellar and my heart.
Later, I had the privilege of visiting Dönnhoff as part of the Masters of Riesling trip, exploring the vineyards and winery of one of Germany's most respected family estates. Seeing the care and precision behind every bottle only deepened my appreciation for the wines.
The Oberhäuser Leistenberg Riesling Kabinett is beautifully poised, balancing vibrant citrus and orchard fruit with delicate sweetness and a mineral freshness that keeps you coming back for another sip.
Some wines are memorable because of how they taste. This one reminds me why wine has always been about people.
