Château Figeac 2011

Some producers don't just make great wine - they help create great wine lovers.

My appreciation of Château Figeac owes a great deal to Madame Blandine de Brier Manoncourt. Through Oxford University's Bacchus Wine Society, she visited us on several occasions, generously leading a tasting that explored the 2009, 2011 and 2016 vintages alongside Petit-Figeac. It was a rare opportunity to see how one estate could express itself so differently across the years. Her support of the society continued when Figeac supplied magnums of the outstanding 2009 for every guest at Bacchus' 25th Anniversary Dinner in 2025 - a gesture that perfectly reflected the château's warmth and generosity.

The 2011 is a beautifully classical expression of the estate, combining blackcurrant, cedar and graphite with fine tannins and remarkable freshness. Elegant rather than powerful, it's a wine that quietly rewards every glass.

Every time I open a bottle of Figeac, I'm reminded that the very best wines are often accompanied by equally memorable people.
